Evaluation of advanced sugarcane clones for cane yield and quality traits in plant and ratoon crops

Sugarcane clones were assessed for cane yield and quality traits in Advanced Varietal Trials I plant, II plant ratoon crops during 2019-21. Fifteen genotypes along with three standards evaluated using Randomized Block design replications at K. J. Somaiya Institute of Applied Agricultural Research (KIAAR), Sameerwadi, Karnataka. Data collected on eleven important contributing traits. Individual pooled analysis variance two plants a crop indicated highly significant differences among the treatments most under study. Genotype Co 14016 recorded significantly higher numerically commercial sugar (CCS) AVT Plant, Ratoon analysis.  Co 14002 variety CCS over all  standards, (Co 86032, CoC 671 05103) plants. Two varieties, CoN CoVC 14062 only indicating good ratoonability these varieties. Character association studies its positive correlations number shoots (0.346), millable canes (0.591) (0.883) yield. Among parameters, height tillers, shoots, Brix0 Pol% has been observed, contribution to quality.  The  present study demonstrated superiority viz., 14016, scope indirect selection based sugarcane breeding.
